What women want - Men listen up!
Ladies, if you’re anything like me, you read fashion magazines religiously. You know all the trend “must-haves” as well as the “wouldn’t-be-caught-dead-in no-no’s.” We read the articles and peruse the ads that inform us the way to catch a man’s eye is by wearing mini skirts, tops with daringly low necklines, sexy stiletto heels and the affectionately termed tramp-boots (F-me shoes). Ok, I get it. But if I am working so hard to follow the dress regulations that are aesthetically pleasing to my male viewers, then why can’t they do the same for me?
This just in, men. Although we’re not quite as simpleminded as you and we’re not desperately drooling to see you in your slinkiest of skivvies (well, maybe sometimes we are), we absolutely do notice what you wear. So for heaven’s sake, please start impressing us!
As I stated before, it’s obvious to females how men want us to dress. And I’m not saying that you all have a one-track mind, but, let’s be honest, we girls know how to show off certain features that are known to make your heads spin. Males, since the manner of dress that turns us girls on is not nearly as apparent, I am here to pass along to you some helpful female fashion know-how.
It’s all about sweaters this winter. Whether they are zip-ups, cable-knit, cashmere or cotton, this season sweaters are hot! Not only do they look fabulous on you, but they feel even more glorious to us. What girl wouldn’t want to be enveloped in her warm and cuddly boyfriend’s arms? The other great thing about sweaters is you can dress them up or down. You can pair sweaters with a nice pair of pants for that casual yet cool evening look, or throw on a sweater with jeans for a more relaxed, comfortable daytime appearance. Either way, we girls are sure to notice you!
The IT color for guys this winter is pink. You heard me right. Pink. Now, I know this may not sit easy with some of you males out there, but I wouldn’t lead you astray. The best way I can conceive to incorporate pink into your wardrobe is underneath a black or charcoal suit jacket. The pink contrasts nicely with the darker jacket, and adds a unique flair to an otherwise unexciting look.
A look that I personally love and have recently seen in magazines and shopping departments, is the traditional Kangol Wool Cap. Yes, it’s true, this style has been around for years. But rest assured, it’s not your grandfather’s paper-boy hat. Aside from being seasonally practical (it keeps your head warm during those frigid winter months), these hats look extremely handsome on you. And, if they’re anything like me, the girls in your life will love them so much they’ll steal them to wear themselves (and this is a look you’ll most definitely want to see as we look darn cute in Kangol hats too)! To check out this great style go to www.nordstrom.com. If you click on “men” and scroll down, you’ll find the Kangol Wool Caps.
Lastly, for both men and women, vintage is in. I’m talking anything from old-fashioned tees to aged dress clothes - this season vintage is the way to go. A very sexy after-work or weekend look for guys is the vintage slim-fitting cotton button up shirt. Unlike stiff collared work shirts, there’s no need to iron these shirts as they are meant to look worn and slightly imperfect. Couple it with a relaxed pair of jeans and girls will find you too sultry to remain clothed (one rule of thumb: hot clothes look even hotter crumpled on the floor)!
So there you have it, men. The age-old adage is true: always dress to impress. We do it for you, now it’s your turn to do it for us! Put some effort into your style. Catch our attention the way we work to catch yours! Happy shopping, boys!
