The Messy TravelersGroover and Beth - The Italian Job PART II

Bonjourno me lurvers!

Further up north now in Florence, arrived here by train on Wednesday cost around 14 for one-way seconda classe billet but second class is roughly the equivalent of English first class so no probs. Journey took about 3 hours through lovely Italiano countryside, the only blot on the landscape was Beth falling asleep and dribbling on herself...

Impressions of Florence after a couple of days here are of a more chilled, colourful and picturesque city than Roma. We almost end up taking the beauty of the piazza's, villa's and various buildings for granted because there's so much of it.

As for the people, if Romans were beautiful people in a beautiful city then Florentines are people who are in a beautiful city but think they're beautiful!! Enough to make Steve Armani look like Duncan Ellis!! (N'pton peeps will know what I is saying!!)

Staying at the Hotel Spagna which fortunately is right on the main street into the centre of Florence (Florence is quite small anyway though) but not so fortunate when trying to sleep!! To the point where Beth has been cursing the lorries in her sleep!! However the staff are very friendly and helpful, brekky is an improvement on the minimalist approach adopted by The Sunshine House in Rome and...we've got a shower!!!!! Beth has even been washing our undies in the sink!! Aaah the glamorous life of the traveler!!

Took a walk to the highest point overlooking the city (Piazza Michaelangelo), breathtaking views watching the sunset over the city. There is permanent sunshine in the daytime so on the verge of getting a tan, but in the evening its bloody cold.

Having a few beers and vino's tonight to celebrate our first week away (has it really only been a week??). I have achieved Italian objective 1 "find an abra-kebabra", have found one down a cheeky side alley selling 'kebaba di pollo' (chicken kebab...I hope!!), will test out tonight and save some to bring home for you...will try for objective 2 "plumagge internatzionale" tonight...

Mad day to come on Monday, flight to Vienna leaves at 7 in the morning, change for 12 hour flight to Delhi, looking forward to warmer climate now though.

In Delhi for five days so will mail then if we get the chance if not we'll speak to you from Goa!!

Miss you all loads, cheers for all the mails received,

Groover & Beth
