The 'Troy' heartthrob, who met the screen beauty on the set of a Gap advert in 2002, has reportedly said they were spending too much time apart because of busy work schedules.
Kate is said to be devastated after Orlando confessed his feelings on a recent holiday to Brazil.
A source close to the couple told Britain's Mail On Sunday newspaper: "Orlando has said that it's all over between him and Kate and that he's back in the dating game.
"It seems they were never together for longer than a week before one of them had to jet off to the other side of the world for film commitments.
"Kate's devastated by the split but the truth is Orlando has always been a bit of a ladies' man and thinks he's too young to settle down."
However, news of the split hasn't come as much of a surprise to his close friends after Bloom last month reportedly invited a mystery blonde along to a lads' night out.
A fellow nightclubber told Britain's Daily Mirror newspaper: "Orlando brought this girl and they spent the whole evening in the VIP area. Everyone was surprised because it's well known he's dating Kate."
