Keira Knightley's charity dress

Keira Knightley has donated her Oscar dress to charity.

The British beauty - who was nominated for an Academy Award for 'Pride and Prejudice' - has given the merlot-coloured Vera Wang gown to Oxfam to helpraise money for relief work in Africa.

The frock - which was custom-made for Keira - will be auctioned on eBaylater this month.

The 21-year-old said in a statement: "This is such an amazing dress and I amreally pleased to be able to donate it to Oxfam.

"I have seen the TV reports on the horrendous drought in East Africa and I know how desperate things have become, so I am happy to be able to dosomething to help."

Designer Wang said she's thrilled her creation will help raise funds for agood cause.

She is quoted on the USA Today website as saying: "Keira represents theessence of youth, intelligence and beauty.

"She is a young woman with a conscience."
