Sleepy Travolta avoids fans

John Travolta claims he sleeps all day in a bid to avoid fans who constantly recognise him.

The Hollywood actor says he doesn't get up until 5pm and does all his work at night but hisunusual sleeping patterns are now rubbing off on children Jett and Ella.

He told Britain's Readers Digest magazine: "They do now - half because they like it and halfbecause that's when they get to see dad."

However, John admits he initially clashed with wife Kelly Preston over the sleeping arrangementsas she was keen for the children to go to bed at a 'normal' time.

He added: "Kelly wasn't too fond of it. But she's come around. I feel like as long as they geteight hours sleep, I don't care when they go to bed."

Meanwhile, John, 50, also revealed how his mum always used to dress him up in designer clotheswhen he was younger - despite being the youngest of six in a not well-off family.

The 'Saturday Night Fever' star says his mum would go bargain hunting in charity shops so herchildren always looked nice.

He said: "My mother would buy second-hand clothes. She said: 'I can put my son in a ChristianDior suit for $10 at the Church of Atonement. If I buy it brand new, that would be $300. Or Icould buy a really cheap suit for $20 that will fall apart.' All my clothes were beautifulbecause they were wealthy people's hand-me-downs. My mother was a smart woman."
