More movie reviewsIn this fly-on-the-wall piece, a young filmmaker Troy Duffy gets the break he never might have dreamt of. Harvey Weinstein, Head of Miramax green-lights his project, praising his script and giving him a multi-million $ deal. It gives him overnight success and the kind of future Duffy could never have dreamt of.
However, not everything goes to plan and when Duffy fatally begins to believe his own publicity, he’s on a downward spiral as the film shows him managing to piss off most of Hollywood in a series of foul-mouthed telephone calls.
It’s a very interesting documentary, which gives you an inkling it might pan out as it does ; its also quite frightening to watch. You’re basically watching one man’s creation disintegrating before your very eyes and that’s largely because a big cheese in Hollywood has second thoughts. It shows that the film world can be a lonely place when you’re left up river without a paddle.
