Stealth, some might call a return into Top Gun territory since the plot revolves around three crack pilots (the three principal actors – Josh Lucas, Jamie Foxx and Jessica Biel) who are given the unenviable task of averting World War 3.

Their peace-keeping mission begins only after Top Brass have introduced them to what is obviously a ridiculous idea in aerial airborne warfare. EDI standing for ‘Extreme Deep Invader’ is an aeroplane that needs no pilot since it can run purely from a PC. Naturally the human touch is missing and EDI should really stand for Extremely Daft Idea.

When EDI goes loopy through natural weather conditions (a bolt of lightening), the plane is on a suicide mission to cause major global mayhem and its up to the planes staffed by talented human pilots to catch up with this techno renegade.

Director Cohen rarely attempts to give his characters depth beyond the usual requirements for heroism, superficial romance and playful rivalry and he concentrates instead on a jumbled plot and the inevitable action scenes that would obviously predominate in a film like this. If you’re into this sort of action mish-mash, it’s a film that may satisfy, but its pure mediocre boyz own stuff for the gasoline hungry crowd into aeronautical cliffhangers and adrenalin-filled high-jinks.
