The Last Mitterand

Sure enough, this docu-drama is about the former French President Francois Mitterand, now the late Francois Mitterand as he died a little while ago of cancer. Robert Guédiguian’s film is faithful to its subject matter, but in a sense is perhaps a little too specialized – you perhaps have to a strong interest in France, or politics, or better still French politics and even more so, Mitterand to get a lot out of it. Most though may warm to the performance of Michel Bouquet in the central role as Mitterand, particularly as he has to confront questions about all manner of subjects.

Certainly it’s out there if French politics during the time of Francois Mitterand is something you’d like to delve into a little more.
