Chaos, Adam F featuring M.O.P @ Fabric 2nd November 2001

M.O.P - Mash Out Posse First up tonight was the Vestax UK Turntablist Championships 2001 which was won by Woody who will be representing the UK at this years Vestax DJ Competition World Final to be held in Los Angeles on the 11th of November. The competition was closed in style by 'Plus one' the DMC World DJ Champion and member of the scratch perverts team who mixed and scratched an awe inspiring 10 minute set.

Then there was time to get a couple of drinks in and check out the drum and bass in one of the other rooms before Adam F and MOP took to the stage - there seemed to be some technical difficulties so I could have cleaned out the whole bar to be honest.

Adam F - ChaosWhile the stage was being set-up the DJs dropped some classic old skool hip hop from Grandmaster Flash to the beastie boys - good but I was getting restless…

It was a sold out night and the place was heaving by the time Adam F appeared on stage to sort out his decks. The crowd was mostly made up of 20 something white males, but there was a good atmosphere in Fabric as always.MOP appeared on stage with their security and ante rage. The core of the group were 5 or 6 rappers 3 meters away with no divide between the crowd and the stage. "Say M.O.P… SAY M.O.P!" Bang - they broke straight into a rendition of 'Cold as Ice' and the crowd jumped like crazy.

Adam F stayed at the back controlling things throughout and MOP acknowledged him continually during the set. Next MOP broke into a great version of Ante Up, followed by their excellent Adam F Chaos track 'Stand Clear'. Despite the fact they were only on for a little over 30 minutes and the sound was not perfect - the raps were not totally clear and the base lines were barely audible - the energy, enthusiasm of MOP and the crowd made this an excellent set. Adam F a skinny white dude from the UK is being hailed as the new Dr Dre - after listening to his recently released album CHAOS and bearing witness to this night this comparison is understandable. Tonight he and Brooklyn's finest M.O.P kicked up a storm and the crowd were hyped and happy.--Concorde
