Formed in 1980 to document the punk scene in Washington DC, over the course of the past 20 years, Dischord has established itself as the definitive American punk label.
By setting a new musical paradigm, for while in the early 90s, just before and just after grunge broke, Sub Pop Records became the most widely known indie label in the world. They’re a little less ambitious now, but they still put out some great records, such as this year’s Oh, Inverted World by the Shins.

In the late Seventies, there was no cooler place on Earth than this little New York club. The Velvet Underground, the New York Dolls, the Ramones, Television, Richard Hell, Patti Smith, Blondie, the Talking Heads. . .they were all there.
