50 Cent has thrown rap protégé The Game out of his group G-Unit - sparking a shooting incident.

The rap star announced on US hip-hop radio station Hot 97 on Monday night (28.02.05) that he was kicking his fellow musician out of his band for failing to support him in a string of recent bust-ups with other rappers.

But the announcement was interrupted when The Game, with a number of associates, tried to burst into the studio, in New York, before being stopped by security staff who bundled them outside.

During the fracas, a single gun shot was heard from inside the building leaving one unnamed 24-year-old man, from Los Angeles, with a wound to the upper thigh.

50 immediately stopped his interview and was quickly escorted from the building by security staff for his own safety.

Police investigating the shooting believe The Game, or one of his associates, heard the announcement and went to the station to confront the 'In Da Club' singer.

No arrests have yet been made and police sources say it is unclear whether The Game was directly involved.
