Beckham's family at peace

David Beckham has slammed claims his parents are at war with wife Victoria's family - branding the reports "totally untrue".

The England football captain insists he has never treated his mum and dad, Ted and Sandra, any differently to the way he treats Victoria's parents, Jackie and Tony, but admits it's inevitable that the couple will spend more time at Victoria's family home.

He said in an interview with Britain's Daily Mirror newspaper: "Anyone who has daughters over a certain age knows usually it's the boyfriend who comes round to the girlfriend's house and not the other way round.

"That's all it was, and is, with me and Victoria. My family has never had a problem with Victoria's family and vice versa. They've all been treated equally.

"I've always been close to my mum and dad and always will be. They're the reason I am where I am today. My relationship with them will never change."

The Real Madrid ace, who is due to become a father again in March when former Spice Girl Victoria gives birth to their third child, also denied claims he bought more expensive gifts for Victoria's family.

Last year, it was reported that the two families had fallen out after David's parents were allegedly snubbed from the planning of the christening of the couple's two sons, Brooklyn, five, and Romeo, two, and they were said to be fed-up with being treated like "second class citizens".

David, 29, also hit back at allegations he staged photo opportunities to guarantee that he would get the publicity he craved.

He added: "I'm not addicted to fame. I don't love my picture being everywhere but I'm at the level where I can't do anything about it."
