Beyonce Knowles has been named Best Pop Princess after topping a poll of female singers.

The Destiny's Child singer beat off competition from a phalanx of stars, including pop quartet Girls Aloud and Christina Aguilera, to scoop the title on British music channel UMTV.

The sexy star, who is romancing rap mogul Jay-Z, scored more than a third of the total votes to steal the title from her chart rivals - compared to 'Slow' singer Kylie Minogue, who polled just nine per cent of the votes cast to come in last place.

Earlier this week, it was reported that Beyonce's father was planning to tour the UK to find singers to be part of a new Destiny's Child.

Matthew Knowles, who also manages his 23-year-old daughter and her bandmates Kelly Rowland and Michelle Williams, is said to be in talks with a number of TV stations - including music channel MTV - to create a talent show which would pick a new line-up for the all-girl R'n'B group.

Following a 'Pop Idol' style format, thousands of hopefuls will audition for the show before the finalists are narrowed down to 20 who will then be flown out to the US to live in a "music boot camp."

A source revealed: "They'll have to show their singing, dancing and song-writing skills ' Then they'll be narrowed down until around 20 young ladies will get the chance to fly to America and attend Mathew's boot camp in Texas."

Mathew, 53, also reportedly planned to sign up his future son-in-law to be a judge on the show, and is believes he can create a group to rival the original girl band.
