Proof's funeral security fears

Slain rapper Proof is to be buried amid high security tomorrow (19.04.06).

It is feared the funeral of the D12 co-founder and best man for Eminem couldend in violence.

It is not know if the 'Lose Yourself' rapper will attend the service atDetroit's Fellowship Chapel.

Family, friends and fans are being allowed a day of mourning today (18.04.04) and the rapper's body will be laid out for public view for 12hours.

Proof - real name Deshaun Holton - was shot in the head several times after a row at the C.C.C. bar, located on Detroit's Eight Mile Road, last Tuesday (11.04.06). The strip, which lies along the city's northern edge, wasimmortalized in Eminem's 2002 movie of the same name.

Meanwhile, chief suspect, Mario Etheridge, is behind bars after appearing incourt on weapons violations.

He pleaded not guilty on Saturday (15.04.06) to two counts of carrying a concealed weapon and the discharge of a firearm in a building. The 28-year-old turned himself in last week after firing the fatal shots in whathe claims was an act of self-defence.

Witnesses told police Proof got into an argument over a pool game and pistol-whipped 35-year-old Keith Bender Jr. That was when Etheridge - who isBender's cousin and a security guard at the bar - allegedly opened fire.
