The former Nirvana drummer was said to be desperate for Joss to provide vocals on some of their new songs.
A source is quoted by Britain's Daily Star newspaper as saying: "Dave adores Joss. He's totally blown away by her vocal abilities and made a direct beeline for her when he spotted her backstage at a concert.
"They hung out together for the whole afternoon and if they can arrange their busy schedules to suit, there'll definitely be some form of collaboration together in the future."
Earlier this month the stunning 18-year-old took an apparent swipe at diva Mariah Carey for performing her latest single at the Live 8 charity show.
Joss believes people shouldn't have sung their new songs at the star-studded concert because it shouldn't have been for personal gain.
She said: "I didn't want to sing my single because that's really lame and pathetic and stupid and not what it's all about".
