From the outback with love...

Lads & lasses,

Writing this from Sydney airport, due to the time difference we've got a weird 'Back to the future' type day today.

We have the pleasure of spending the afternoon of Tuesday April 30th in Sydney and the morning of April 30th in San Francisco!!!! We could get drunk and wake up with a hangover all on the same day...!!!

Last couple of weeks in Oz have absolutely flown by, last week particularly coming home has been at the back of our minds. Still got up to quite a bit though, left Byron Bay (really nice place but you pay twice as much for everything due to its popularity) and headed to Coffs Harbour to recharge the batteries for a week.

No messy drunken escapades here I'm afraid just chilling out & topping up the tan.

In the last leg of the coach pass to get to Sydney so left Coffs on Saturday for a one night stop-over inland at Bellingen. Would have liked to have spent more time here, it's like a more 'normal' version of Nimbin, it's where that fella - David Helfgott - from the the film 'Shine' lives. The hostel had an amazing 'Hall of Fame' - 444 pictures of people from all corners of the world in various surprisingly tasteful poses and er...stark bollock naked!!!

Met up with a few friends we've met on the way down for a few beers where an American fella called Bryon had the idea of recreating the Beatles 'Abbey Road' album cover (the one where they're walking across The pedestrian crossing) to join the hostels Hall of Fame...So that's my excuse officer. I think the old fella going for an early morning walk at 6am got quite a shock to see three fellas in their birthday suits on Bellingens high street pedestrian crossing!!!

Moved onto a small town called Nundle to visit the Dag Sheep Station for another of our outback experinces!!

Loads of fun, both got to shhhhh...ear a sheep, funny to see all the girls feeling sorry for the newly shorn sheep saying the poor thing's going to be cold but happily eating roast lamb half an hour later!!

Helped round up the sheep (well watched the sheepdog do it anyway) and saw possibly the fattest cow in Australia!!
Last boozy night out in Oz was celebrated in style, drinking games, men dressed as women, did the full monty...with girls!!! (it's taken two years but I'm proud to say Beth is finally partaking in public nudity!!, it's taken some persuasion but she's finally coming round...)

A couple of beers and a whistle-stop tour of Sydney and now...it's all over!!!! Can't quite believe 4 months have gone so quickly, both went into this trip with open minds but it's amazing how many supposed 'stereotypes' have come true - the Germans DID complain a lot, the yanks were loud, the Japanese took photo's of anything & everything, the English & Aussies, well, we got drunk alot...

Anyway pour us a pint of Guinness & a large white wine - we're coming home!!!!!!

See you all on Friday,

Groover & Beth
